The University of Toledo began in 1872 as a private arts and trades school offering painting and architectural drawing as its only subjects. In the more than 130 years since, the University has grown into a comprehensive institution. Today, The University of Toledo offers a diverse curriculum from bachelors through doctorate degrees. It has eight colleges that offer more than 250 undergraduate and graduate programs to 20, 800 students. Owens Community College was founded 1965 and now offers over 150 programs . Owens has cultivated transfer agreements with over 20 area four-year colleges and universities. The two 60 to 280 acre campuses serve more than 45,000 credit and non-credit students annually. Average class sizes are 15 students. Owens Community College has never been a junior college and has a 90% job placement rate for its graduates, 73% of them within their fields of study.
